I got a request to do a reading for Hyunjin from someone who said that they were wanting to understand him more as he seems to be quieter and doesn’t talk about himself very much. What interested me most was that they cited the fact that he had been born on a full moon, with his Sun and Moon opposing each other, however, he was born on a day when the Sun and Moon were changing signs, making it more difficult to really pinpoint his placements. I did pull up a general chart for his birth date, adjusted the time one way and another to get a look at everything, and for the most part, his Moon would be well into Libra on that date, while his Sun could be either in Pisces or Aries, cusping either way. Just for reference, the exact Full Moon would have occurred with the Sun and Moon at 29° of Pisces and Virgo. So, with that, I was looking at things as him being a Pisces/Aries Cusp Sun with a Libra Moon.
I have done a few other readings for Hyunjin or involving Hyunjin, and in the mini-reading for how the other members of Stray Kids see him, I mentioned with his placement in the reading that he did seem a bit closed off, trying to keep a certain level of distance between himself and everyone else. I would imagine this would extend out to how he relates to the public as, regardless of where his Sun is, he does have a lot of amplified Pisces energy with his Venus and Mercury in Pisces Sextiling Jupiter (a ruler of Pisces) in Taurus, which Squares his Neptune in Aquarius, which holds a loose Trine to his Moon. There’s just a lot of stimulation to influences of Pisces energy, a lot of Water energy, making him a bit more sensitive and a bit less filtered when it comes to how things come in and go out in terms of energy and communication/conscious level stimulation.
Another point of concern with communication, or just vulnerability in general comes around with Saturn in Taurus, which actually made me think a lot about Scorpio energy, specifically in the realm of Masculine Scorpios (Divine Masculine energy, nothing to do with sex or gender). There’s that aspect between Scorpio and Taurus, that Fixed energy and mentality that can lead to fear of instability and a lack of control. Specifically, there’s a bit of hesitation to give away too much as he just doesn’t like feeling very exposed. In fact, I was seeing, especially in relation to that Libra Moon and Pisces Mercury, he would need to feel very comfortable with someone in order to really open up, and even then, he may only really be able to open up when he’s having a one-on-one conversation simply because he would feel more vulnerable with multiple eyes and ears on him when speaking about more personal matters.
An interesting point that I took note of in his chart was the Trine between his Sun and North Node in Leo. Leo North Nodes have to really learn how to put themselves out there on a stage as their most authentic selves and hold that level of confidence that would allow them to face judgment and criticism head-on without any risk of completely falling into conformity and assimilation as a result. His North Node is very wrapped up in his identity, and it’s almost like he doesn’t even really need to express himself, he doesn’t need to put himself out there as him just existing is something worth admiring. Obviously, considering his career this is pretty perfect, but there could be some inner tension around being more open and honest in his expression with the world on his larger platform. He could want to be more expressive and share more of himself, either directly in open talks with the fans or in interviews, or with solo music or other forms of artistic expression, but there’s just a lingering hesitation towards doing it.
The last note I had made about his chart was the slightly chaotic mix of Fire and Water energy. He has all of that Water energy through the influences of Pisces, but then he has some pretty major influences in the Fire Signs, such as his Mars in the later degrees of Aries, his Pluto and Chiron in Sagittarius, and his North Node in Leo. It’s kind of odd because it’s like the Fire is mostly very contained, as if it’s stuffed inside a metal ball and it’s just sort of stimulating itself. However, that metal ball heats up and it causes that Water to start to simmer. It doesn’t completely start boiling, it just starts rumbling and getting little bubbles, and this adds kind of an odd and confusing stimulation overall. Then, the fact that his Sun is exactly between Mutable Water (Pisces) and Cardinal Fire (Aries), really roots that back and forth chaos into his conscious awareness.
As for any underlying imprinting in his chart, I wasn’t able to see any of his, nothing was popping up while looking through it, but there definitely is a lot of stimulation currently to that Trine between his Sun and North Node, which makes me think he could have a key imprint there. That, or it’s just stimulated right now because he is in a bit of a phase with coming to balance his identity between a performer and who he knows himself to be on the inside.
Here, I just pulled some cards for a basic core energy reading, focusing on higher influence or guidance and how that takes root within him, as well as how that is manifesting for him right now.
To begin, he has the 6 of Wands there at the very top, representing the current influence, a higher aspect of himself — not necessarily his Higher Self, this could also be coming directly from that higher imprint of the North Node/Sun Trine, or it could be more representative of a very strong external influence around him. The 6 of Wands is all about fame and recognition, a strong sense of accomplishment that comes along with praise and support from many people around him. Essentially, it’s his career. His career is the most influential energy around him right now.
What’s interesting is that when it comes to how the energy of the 6 of Wands takes root within Hyunjin, how it settles into his more subconscious mind, he has the 10 of Wands. The 10 of Wands is pressure, strain, and overwhelming obligation. It’s an aspect of there being too much work, or too much to worry about, quite literally a lot to carry.
Between the 6 and 10 of Wands, there is an interesting dynamic where it feels like two different perspectives of the same thing. The 6 of Wands is more in line with how we, as the audience, would see Hyunjin and his position as a famous person, as an idol. He’s on a pedestal, he’s being praised, he has a lot of loyal followers, and most importantly, he has a firm grip on his wand, on his passion and creativity, things are under his control and direction. However, on the other end, from inside, Hyunjin may feel a bit more like the 10 of Wands, holding too many wands, too many responsibilities, too many avenues that his attention and energy have to go down, and because of that, it’s strenuous and tiring. It’s a lot more work than people would be willing to give him credit for, and honestly, when it comes to that Piscean sensitivity, he may be exerting a lot more energetically than some of the other members as a lot of times Pisces influence can create an energetic exchange that has less filtration to it, meaning the individual would take on and let out more energy than they mean to, thus draining them or overwhelming them a lot quicker than other people.
Something that I always take note of when looking at the 10 of Wands is the posture of the man in the image. He’s hunched over quite a bit, hugging onto the wands to try and keep them from falling, and he has his face buried in them with his head turned down. He seems so exhausted that he’s nearly gone on autopilot, not even able to hold his head up or keep his vision clear. In that sense, the 10 of Wands can represent work, or external obligation that is so overwhelming that it becomes a distraction. It distracts from everything else going on around the person, and of course, it would completely distract that person from anything going on within themselves. All that can be focused on are those specific ten wands.
For him, in this context, the ten wands would be representative of all the different aspects of his career. It’s the singing, dancing, interviews, modeling/photoshoots/video shoots, promotional work, brand deals, behind-the-scenes business stuff, working out, traveling, and a lot more than that, I’m sure. The thing is, some people that work in this field would be able to really sum all of that up into “WORK” and kind of compartmentalize it so that, in a sense, they only have one wand to worry about, one line of energy and attention to give to a set of actions and obligations that fit under this one umbrella of work. For Hyunjin, everything feels like its own thing, everything is in its own realm, and because of that, it can feel very overwhelming at times, and almost like there’s never really an end to the work at all as there’s always something to think about or worry about in relation to it all.
When it comes to how these aspects of the 6 of Wands and the 10 of Wands reach Hyunjin’s conscious mind, he has here Temperance and the 6 of Cups, which was a very interesting set to work through. First off, Temperance suggests that on a very conscious level he is trying to find a sense of balance primarily within himself, and secondarily with the world around him. It’s kind of odd though because, with the 6 of Cups, there’s this sense of self-preservation as if he’s trying to find a balance between himself and the world that doesn’t require him to share all of who he is.
Essentially, as I was seeing it, the white flowers in the cups, which represent innocence and purity, represent pieces of Hyunjin, pieces of himself that he recognizes as untainted and unchanged, parts of him that have not had the opportunity to be judged or scrutinized by the public or even the company or the other members, and therefore, he wants to preserve them. It’s like the 6 of Cups represents a mental or emotional center that he can return to when he’s alone, that he can anchor and ground into in order to reset and refresh himself at the end of the day. He doesn’t want to give that up, but then, in contrast to that, he has Temperance there, pouring from one cup to another, as if they are trying to figure out just how much of what’s in those cups can be shared without them losing their roots.
It’s a very interesting back and forth energy there, one that is already a little complicated on its own, but when you add that distraction of the 10 of Wands and the inability to focus or have time to work through things internally, it becomes a point of inner strain and turmoil. It gives me that vibe of a situation where things just get to be too much, trying to balance and center things becomes too much of a pain to deal with, so it’s just sort of thrown to the side and left as is. The thing is, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he did that. It wouldn’t have any major negative effect if he just stayed as he is right now, but for him, within himself, it seems like he would struggle with that feeling of holding things back and not being that Leo North Node level of authentic.
Lastly, all of this comes together and takes root with The World. The World is the last card in the deck, it is completion, it’s the final frame of a movie taking form, however, here for Hyunjin, it feels more like a framework. In my mind, I was seeing it like someone getting a jigsaw puzzle and pouring the pieces out on the table. They KNOW they have all of the pieces, everything is there in front of them, right where it needs to be, they just have to put the pieces together, they have to create that final image. Hyunjin is in that process of putting the pieces together, in that state of Temperance where things are being brought into balance so that he himself can feel complete, can feel like a whole image and not just a mosaic of random pieces.
This is actually a pretty common phase to go through for people in their early twenties, it just seems very amplified by the fact that he is trying to navigate this with consideration for so many things outside of himself whereas most people his age would have the opportunity to step away from work and people in order to figure things out when they need to. Not to mention, that Pisces energy can definitely exaggerate things, make things feel very significant on an emotional and mental level.
Main Reading:
Current Core State: Bear — Earth
Higher Self Core Alignment: Snake — Earth (rev.)
Hyunjin’s core state is currently represented here by the Bear, which is the very first card in this deck. You could look at this energy as being the least developed out of all the others, but really, it’s just that the Bear is just now starting to open its eyes. In a more literal sense, the Bear is described as waking up from hibernation, ready to explore the world, get food, and meet up with other bears somewhere. On a higher level, the Bear represents spiritual awakening, the time in which someone’s mental blocks or filters, beliefs or perceptions that they’ve lived with for a long time, start to come undone and allow for the individual’s capacity to be expanded. As that happens, as the conscious awareness starts to open up and stretch, all these little gaps start appearing, and this is what urges people to go out and learn more, consider more, and explore different beliefs and ways of life.
For Hyunjin, there’s this interesting feeling to it where he’s not really having this grand discovery right now, it’s like he’s already had this epiphany, or this sudden awareness to his identity, he’s already woken up, however, he’s still laying in his den. It’s like the Bear is rolling around inside the den, getting a few peaks of the outside world through cracks in the walls, getting a few breaths of fresh air when the breeze picks up, but the Bear is very comfortable there, it’s warm and cozy, and most importantly, it feels safe. There’s an awareness to it that it should go out, it should find food, it should meet up with other bears, but it just either can’t find the ambition to do it, can’t find the confidence, or maybe it really is just still very tiring. Either way, it feels a little stuck.
In my mind, it does line up with Temperance a bit in terms of that more internal effort towards balancing the self, balancing the inner world of the individual before the individual can start to balance themselves as a whole with the whole of the world around them. As long as Hyunjin is in the den, he is in the state of Temperance, in the state of trying to preserve those white flowers, those parts of him that he can return to. In fact, I think it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to say that the white flowers are the Bear’s den. It’s not a place he wants to leave behind, nor is it is a place he wants to open up to the world, but at the same time, there’s a part of him that is urging him to go out and get more, say more, do more, line up a bit more with that Leo North Node.
Now, for his Higher Self Core Alignment, which usually shows what someone’s Higher Self is trying to push down into the core in order to either push that current phase forward or to initiate a new one entirely, he has here the Snake. As it is in reverse, it feels very subtle, it feels like the slightest nudge forward for Hyunjin in this phase. Mainly it’s because phases like these are very self-ruled, meaning that it relies very heavily on very conscious decisions being made, lessons being learned, and so on, and within phases like that, the Higher Self and even Guides and Spirit Guides will step back and allow the individual to find their way on their own. Hyunjin is doing that, but with that Bear, he is a little willfully stuck.
In my mind, it played out in a funny way where, as the Bear is rolling around in the den, procrastinating and only just thinking about going outside, the Snake slithers in and spooks the Bear, causing it to go running outside. I don’t think Hyunjin is going to get spooked by anything, but there could be something that will come along, either internally or externally, that will give him a strong push in the right direction, just to get him up and going. Then, once he’s outside, it’s completely on him when it comes to where he goes next. I mean, he could very well just turn around and go right back inside, but I think once he opens up and gets that chance to start exploring and experimenting, he’ll actually enjoy it a lot more than he might think.
Water Alignment: Fish — Water
Fire Alignment: Moth — Air
I wanted to put these two cards together because they’re nearly showing the exact same thing in terms of how these inner foundations are currently being stimulated. It actually lines up well with what I was seeing in relation to Fire and Water having these odd interactions with each other and causing a bubbled-up stimulation between them.
First, he has the Fish in his Water Alignment, and this is perfectly fine as it does show both balance and alignment, however, there is still this scattered feel to it. The Fish is described as being lost in the current, as if it was swimming along and then suddenly it got all tossed around in the water, lost its way, can’t tell which way is up and which way is down. In the image, the Fish is dark water, it can’t see anything which only makes it even more difficult to figure out which way it was going before it got caught up in the current. However, of course, there is that funny little moon there.
The moon in the image of the Fish is very important as it is what takes this card from being symbolic of a hard time and turns it into something more self-affirming. The moon symbolizes inner guidance, intuition, which is tapped into only when the Fish stops panicking, settles down, goes within itself, and starts to think. Once the Fish relaxes and starts to think a bit more clearly, maybe then it remembers that the last thing it saw in the distance before getting stuck in the current was a coral reef, so it heads toward the reef and eventually manages to get back on track. If it stayed panicked and confused, it could have just spent the rest of its life swimming around in circles.
The moon is that inner guidance, that inner clarity that can serve to light the way in even the darkest of times, but for Hyunjin, it feels like he’s still in that state of swimming in circles, reminiscent of the Bear staying inside the den. I think that’s why it doesn’t feel so negative. Right now, it’s a choice for him to stay in this scattered and confused state, and it may not just be out of laziness or fear of facing that inner self, it could just be that he’s able to focus and work more within his career when he’s not too worried or focused on what’s going on within himself. That creates a bit of conflict energetically though.
Then, to match up with the Fish, he has the Moth in his Fire Alignment. The Moth is a very excited Air energy, very mentally stimulated and eager to do a lot of things. The downside to this card is that it is very susceptible to distraction or setting out to do too many things at once. It’s right up there with the 10 of Wands in terms of Hyunjin’s energy and attention being split off into so many different directions that it creates bustling, fluttering, scattered energy. Really, it’s like the scattered mind and projected energy of the Moth is what ends up creating the odd current that messes up the Fish.
As the Fire Alignment shows how a person’s energy projects, how they go about directing their energy and putting effort behind their actions, the Moth being here and having influence over the Fish feels a little backward. However, it does fit that idea of him pulling things inward, keeping things to himself, not allowing too much of his inner world out, all while still being very sensitive to external stimulation, still bringing a lot of the external world into himself.
So, basically, the Moth reflects a very stimulated and scattered mind, a lot of different things to focus on and do, which leads to a very scattered projection of energy, leading to exhaustion and a sense of instability. This then leads to that feeling of being thrown off emotionally or creatively, thrown off in his internal world with the Fish. Although, as I said, it’s not a majorly forced situation, there is still a choice behind allowing his inner world to stay as it is, to not engage with the moon and find that inner light to help set things straight. It’s not a choice in the sense that he likes feeling scattered and unbalanced, but more so a choice in the sense that as long as he’s NOT focused on his internal world, he is able to work and function more clearly and without interruption, commit to his obligations in the external world.
Earth Alignment: Peacock — Air (rev.)
The Earth Alignment can show someone’s connection to the physical world, how they ground and anchor into it, how they interact with it, but most importantly, it can show how they perceive themselves, either as a member of the collective or just as a single consciousness within their own body. Here, Hyunjin has the reversed Peacock and I find this to be very interesting.
Because of past readings with this card, the Peacock is a card that I typically interpret as a liar, or more so as someone who is pretending to be something they aren’t. The reason for that comes from the fact that, with the way this image was painted, the blue and green colors on the Peacock don’t go completely down its neck, which makes it look like it’s actually another bird that has painted itself to look like a peacock. Not only that but this is supposed to be a somewhat exciting card, a social card, one where you could assume the person is happy and trying to put on a show for people. It’s supposed to be pretty positive, but the bird looks dead behind the eyes, and even with the way that its beak is shaped, it looks like it’s frowning. Therefore, this card only ever comes out when it’s depicting a mask or a projected persona, an aspect of a person that is meant to hide another.
Of course, here, it’s a little different. As it came out in reverse to represent self-perception and how Hyunjin connects with the world, it felt almost like it was on autopilot, almost like Hyunjin isn’t sure if who he is to the world is a mask or not. That, again, goes back to that conflict of identity between who he is internally and who he is as a performer.
I actually made a note that it felt like he wasn’t sure if his persona was the real him or not mainly because his persona or his character wasn’t a creation of his own, it was something that was given to him by someone else. It’s a complicated thought, it’s hard to navigate, especially when you don’t really have the time to settle down and separate yourself from that persona in order to actually observe it more objectively.
On the other end, the reversed Peacock here can also be a matter of perceiving himself as a liar or as someone with something to hide, but not in a way where something negative is being hidden. Going back to the 6 of Cups, the only thing that he is hiding are those white flowers, those pretty positive parts of himself. He’s not lying about anything, and he’s not trying to hide bad parts of himself, but he could be perceiving himself as a misrepresentation simply because the full picture, The World, isn’t on display.
Air Alignment: Black Egg — Spirit
Finally, here in his Air Alignment, which covers conscious level thought processing and manner of communication, he has the Black Egg. This was actually pretty surprising at first as whenever Spirit cards show up in alignments, it means that the alignment is in sync with the influence of the Higher Self.
The Black Egg is associated with the Throat Chakra, with open and honest communication, which is definitely a huge focal point for Hyunjin at this time, within this current phase of development. The Black Egg itself represents an inner truth, one that you have to search for within yourself, and once you find it, it is the only thing you express, it is the truth you live by. Essentially, the Black Egg is representing his identity, the one that he wants to and will eventually express, it’s just a matter of finding, it’s a matter of getting all those pieces linked together so he can see the whole picture and eventually share that picture with the world more clearly.
With this in his Air Alignment, it does show that his conscious mind is there, he is consciously thinking about the Black Egg, about his identity, however, it does feel more like consideration. It feels like the Snake slithered into the den, it spooked the Bear, but the Bear just sat up and stared at it and is now considering whether or not it wants to run outside or just stomp on the Snake until its dead.
What actually came to mind with that is the idea of Hyunjin getting the opportunity to do solo work, or a full solo album, something where the main focus would be him and his expression. That would be the Snake. This opportunity would then very much so prompt the question and thought around his identity, around his image, what he wants to share with people, how deeply he wants to go. He has a choice to run with it, run outside and put himself on display, or stomp that opportunity into the ground, waste it.
Overall, in spite of some of the more tension-filled aspects of his current state, Hyunjin seems to be in a good place. The phase that he is in now is a pretty common one, most people in their early 20s start to go through and don’t really see it come to a full stop until they hit about 25 to 27 years old. For Hyunjin, the significance of this phase and how heavily it weighs on him will be quite different from your average everyday person as he is in the public eye, he does have more to consider and be mindful of when it comes to his image. Therefore, it will just be a little bit harder, but still just as crucial and beneficial when it comes to finding and expressing his true identity and learning to live authentically in all realms of his life.
That’s all I have for this one, thank you for reading!
