Initial Impression (pre-reading):
A weird pair, no energetic connection.
Right off the bat, I was having some difficulty really tapping into their mixed energy, seeing where and how they connect. About five minutes into the meditation portion of the reading, I remembered how I had used Jimin’s core link from his Elemental Alignment reading in order to connect with Kook’s energy during their relationship reading. I thought maybe I could do the same thing here, connect to Hoseok through Kook, but I was not able to find any line of energy between Kook and Hoseok’s cores. Basically, the two of them are not linked together at all on that particular level.
I did get a bit frustrated with it, trying to figure out how to get through to Hoseok for this reading, and I started to think that maybe he just didn’t want anyone in his space. However, once I stopped trying to link him and Kook together and approached his core separately, he actually opened up and the connection was made very easily. This was actually really confusing for me, I didn’t understand why or how this was happening like this, so I decided to do a separate energy reading for clarification. This ended up being extremely helpful. This is what ended up coming out here:
The first question I asked here was, “How do they connect?” With that, I got the King of Wands with the Knight of Cups. This was followed by an audible message which I made of note of stating that the connection between them is the strongest on a subconscious level. So, their strongest connection occurs or registers consciously through the emotions, but they do not hold resonance with each other energetically. Literally, as it is shown with the Knight of Cups and the King of Wands, they are opposing each other energetically like Fire and Water. I assume, just based on age, Hoseok would be the Fire in the King of Wands, and Kook would be the Water in the Knight of Cups.
I was getting visuals of their connection weaving in and out in an odd way. Specifically, I was seeing blue and orange light around the Knight and the King merge and then come apart over and over. There’s this interesting dance involved where, between different layers of consciousness and resonance, they do come together, while on others they don’t connect at all. While I was focusing on that, I was still shuffling and Temperance and Strength came out.
These two cards immediately struck me as transcended versions of the King and the Knight. The Knight of Cups being Temperance, and Strength being the King. This resonated as a connection between the unconscious and spiritual awareness. There is also a looser soul connection there rooted in one or more past life connections that hold influence over the current state.
NOTE: All the members have past life connections with each other, some more than others, but they all have at least one that is tying them together and is still relevant in this lifetime.
So, there are lines between them, they are connected, as expected, but there just isn’t anything connecting them core to core. There is something there about their core projection being the main influence in maintaining that separation. It is an aspect of balance, nothing negative. Hoseok’s core is projected, while Kook’s is mainly introverted, as in his core energy turns inward. So, between them, or between their cores, there is a lot of room for imbalance on that particular level, whereas, with Namjoon, the Virgo with an extroverted core, Hoseok balances quite nicely on a core level.
This made a lot of sense between the Temperance and Strength cards. Strength is a projection of ruling over the external world, external situations from a stable internal base, while Temperance is an aspect of internal balance and stabilization through harmonizing with external matters. Where the Knight and the King oppose each other, Temperance and Strength mirror each other. They are able to offer what the other lacks. Hoseok provides Kook with that inner strength and stability within himself, while Kook provides energy towards inner balance. In other words, Hoseok provides stimulation for projection and Kook provides a cooling, calming wave to help settle the constant stimulation that Hoseok has.
With the Temperance card out again I decided to ask specifically where these two balanced each other since I figured that maybe if I knew that I could see where they clash. I let cards fall out as they needed and I ended up getting a total of three pulls for this question. This is what I ended up with:
Why yes, that is the Strength card making an appearance again, mirroring the Temperance card… very interesting, isn’t it…
So, the first four cards underneath the Temperance card came out together and were in the order that they are displayed in, which is the Page of Cups, the Ten of Swords, the Ten of Pentacles, and The Tower. This got a bit confusing because I really had to do some roundabout reading to get a clear understanding of what was being shown here. I was seeing multiple patterns pop up, and I would try to line them up with the projection of each layer between them, as well as the layers within them as individuals. Eventually, after what felt like fifty fucking years, something finally clicked between the Ten of Pentacles and The Tower. Those two cards seemed very familiar to me, and my attention was brought back to it over and over again. I realized that these two cards weren’t actually holding any specific projection in this reading, hence the trouble actually reading them, and they actually settled more in the realm of Jimin and Kook’s relationship reading where those two cards held a lot of significance towards the perception of the relationship itself. So, for sure, the Ten of Pentacles and The Tower belonged to Kook, which meant that Hoseok’s was holding the Page of Cups and the Ten of Swords. Once I had that, things started coming together a little easier.
I went into this a bit in Jimin and Kook’s relationship reading, and I plan on going into it in his Elemental Alignment reading as well, but in simple terms, the Ten of Pentacles relates to Kook’s tendency to be very childlike. It’s his optimism and hopefulness, as well as the security that he clings to in his family — family being his parents, as well as his older brothers in BTS. With where it stands now and how it tends to play into readings, it’s a symbol of a false sense of security and stability, a lack of change, and the comfort in staying the same which, as he gets older, has more and more opportunities of breaking down. This breakdown in a perceived reality of the Ten of Cups is The Tower.
Hoseok holds the Page of Cups, he holds that Cup, he holds Water energy as a very integral part of his core energy, however, in this state it’s very peculiar. In spite of this being foundational in his core, this Water felt very weak, or dry in a way. Like, it’s definitely there, it’s definitely him, but the 10 of Swords had way more meat to it. Yes, he is an Air sign, but as I’m seeing it, the Water is at the very center of his core, at the foundation, while his Aquarius core is governing the outer projection, as in, the Air energy is lining the outside of the core. In a sense, if anything, they should be carrying the same exact level of energy whether they appear in detriment or not, but they aren’t.
How I saw these two playing out within him is through an aspect of pretty severe anxiety limiting or just disrupting his natural ability to openly create and express himself from the very depths of his core, from his soul. In relation to Kook, in spite of this limitation or disruption, Hoseok has more ability to freely express himself than Kook does on a conscious level, while currently, Kook has more ability to actively do things, as in physically do things, like he literally has more physical stamina. That’s the resonance on a conscious level.
After this, I was shuffling again while focusing on this specific level of projection and connection, and The Magician and The Fool fell out of the deck together. Then, just as I stopped shuffling and was about to set the deck down, the cards slipped and Strength slid out alongside The Fool and The Magician.
This is resonating on a higher level between them, beyond aspects of the soul, beyond the unconscious in a state where they, like The Magician and The Fool, number one and number zero, are right next to each other in a sense. Hoseok is in line with The Magician, this conduit of creation and communication, the one who can build new worlds with what he is given. Kook is in line with The Fool, the embodiment of freedom and confidence, an aspect that is constantly in a state of change and transformation. Of course, The Fool does really, really bleed into that slightly lower, closer to the conscious level, aspect of his childlike optimism and hopefulness. When you put these two together — the ability to create and the freedom to pursue — you do actually get Strength and Temperance, the level at which they connect through their spirits.
NOTE FROM 2020:
I had notes in my notebook about this reading where I had compared the complicated pattern of Kook and Hoseok’s connection on different layers of consciousness, frequency, and vibration to that of Kook’s and Jimin’s. I can’t remember when exactly, but maybe a couple of months or so after I had already put up this reading in July 2018, I had drawn out a visual for myself to demonstrate the difference between Kook’s connection with Jimin between layers and his connection with Hoseok. This is it:
I didn’t actually make any notes about it, I just had the image of it stapled into my notebook with this reading, however, I do remember that the whole thing with Hoseok and Kook was that there was this interesting mirroring thing happening where on “level one” Kook would be on the right, Hoseok on the left, both separated from each other, then on “level two,” they would actually come together and influence each other very closely, then they would separate again on “level three,” but there Hoseok would be on the right while Kook would be on the left.
This pattern continued on and on through every level of connection that could be between them. Both connections were very complicated and somewhat difficult to observe, but the best way I can describe it now is like Hoseok and Kook’s connection is like trying to do long division in your head while Jimin and Kook’s connection, at the time, was like trying to predict the pattern of a storm with nothing but fifty years worth of weather patterns that had been logged in a notebook by hand. Hoseok and Kook’s was more structured, but to really see the pattern you had to hold awareness within one level while continuing on to the other, whereas Jimin and Kook’s was extremely different on every level, but each level continued to influence others based on what attributes they, as individuals, carried through. Sometimes they would move together with this, sometimes they would move separately but still carry an aspect of reflection, and other times one would “abandon” the other in order to move up or down that connection which had to do with their pattern of subconscious and soul disconnect.
END 2020 NOTE
There’s this interesting pattern where it feels like they turn each other on (LOL) on different levels, like one side activates the other when they come together. So, for instance, whenever they meet those detriments, the 10 of Swords and The Tower, Kook doesn’t really give, but instead activates within Hoseok that freedom and confidence to pull away from those swords, inspires him to bypass his own anxiety and overstimulated thoughts. In turn, Hoseok activates within Kook his own ability to rebuild what has been lost by the collapse of The Tower, to form those new foundations and progress forward. It’s like in moments where they oppose themselves, they can sync up, but when they are in alignment individually within themselves, they actually start to be so similar that they have to separate in order to maintain a balance between them. It’s kinda cool.
I was also seeing that one of the reasons they connect so well on a subconscious level is that they share a lot of insecurity or instability, not necessarily rooted in the same issues or cause, but they both lead into them questioning their own mindsets and perspective on a conscious level.
At this point in the reading, I was feeling pretty content with what had come out so far, I felt like I understood enough to move on to the actual reading, but something popped into my head like, “whoa, hold on a second, there’s a little bit more to see here, you missed something.” So, I shuffled just one more time, not asking anything specific, just inviting either their core energies or their Guides, whatever, whoever, to lay out what it is that I missed or brushed over here between Hoseok and Kook. This is what popped out:
So, here we have the Knight of Wands and the Page of Wands, separated by The Lovers. I’m pretty sure if this was anymore on point a black hole would have opened up here on my desk. The first thing I noticed with this is that, in a similar fashion to the original set with the Knight and the King of Wands, the Page and the Knight are facing away from each other. They, as individuals are not connecting. However, in the image of The Lovers, Adam and Eve are facing each other. They are not looking at each other, but they are connected. For me, I do not see The Lovers as a card of romance, I’ve always understood it as a card depicting spiritual connection as well as an alignment of the layers of consciousness — The Angel being the unconscious mind connected to the Higher Self, Eve being the subconscious mind connecting to the intuition and receptivity, and Adam being the more conscious and superficial awareness. So, basically, this set is depicting that separation on an energetic or projected level within the core, but the spiritual connection between Hoseok and Kook. Their connection resonates on all levels, there is a subconscious awareness of it between them in that sense. Basically, even if they are very separate, they can still feel those levels in which they are connected.
So, after this, I did start to shuffle the Linestrider deck to get into the main reading, and not even two shuffles in the Strength card from this deck popped out. For just a split second I thought this was telling me to go back and look at something again, so I rolled my eyes at it, and when I did Hoseok caught my eye in one of the posters I have on my wall. Literally, as soon as I looked at him, it just slammed into my head: DIVINE MASCULINE.
I just went with the flow of it and started making a whole bunch of notes, just a jumble of words related to Hoseok. The word “rigid” came up a lot, a long with this sensation of very stoic, stiff energy in his core. I was seeing it visually as that Water energy, but it was in a very steady stream, almost like it was moving through an extremely skinny tube with very heavy pressure behind it. Between Hoseok and Kook, I felt that Hoseok carries way more Divine Masculine, or in this case, way more Fire energy than Kook does. He projects way more than Kook does, and something within that is where, on a conscious or subconscious level, they separate and fall out of resonance. As I was seeing it, it’s like Hoseok is 100% Divine Masculine, 100% Fire or projection, while Kook is only at 50%, which is normal. You’re supposed to have a steady balance between Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine energy, a steady balance between electric and magnetic polarity. However, for some reason, perhaps relating to egoic associations with Strength and Leo, Hoseok is seeing Kook’s 50% Divine Masculine as 100%.
It’s really confusing, but it’s a matter of how Kook actually projects it, or when, or where, I honestly don’t know. Visually speaking, it’s strange as well because it seems like it’s literally a matter of perspective like if Hoseok took two steps to the left, he would see the 50/50 cut of Kook on a subconscious or conscious level. Something in it feels very territorial almost as well, like two 100% Divine Masculines can’t exist in the same space. It seems so off to what I understand of Hoseok, but something in him is pushing against the connections that carry that energy because he sees it as opposition in some way. Very odd.
The Reading:
Current Projected Energy Within The Relationship:
Hoseok: Seven of Cups
Kook: The Chariot | Ace of Pentacles
In this deck, the Seven of Cups describes an individual who can dream, who can fully cook up a creation in their mind, who can build an entirely new world, but at the same time, see the faults in that dream. They can see through the glory and magnificence of that dream into a cold reality where, sometimes, it can seem like that dream can never take root and manifest. For Hoseok, this really rings back to The Magician as well as the combination of the Page of Cups with the 10 of Swords where, quite literally, the 10 of Swords, the overthinking, can lead to some pretty severe anxiety and stop that clear creation or expression. So, the aspect of the creative visionary, as well as those upsets or imbalances, are what he projects prominently within his relationship with Kook.
For Kook, The Chariot and the Ace of Pentacles, really come together as “a sure thing.” It connects back to that vibe of The Fool where it’s like each step, even if perceived to be foolish or unstable, is actually guaranteed to work out. However, with The Fool, it’s more like there’s this guiding light or a set path that has been externally formed that he follows, while with The Chariot, it comes off more like he is consciously forming his own path, or at least very conscious navigating that set path with very clear intent. The Ace of Pentacles is like this bag of tools that he has been given, but again, he is very consciously and deliberately putting them to use.
Interesting yet again, that on this level, the conscious projection, Hoseok is actually more internalized with this “dreamer” vibe, while Kook is much more external, more projected through Fire and Earth. Seriously, they just swap position in every other level, but this is a level, at least currently, where they are balanced, there are no real issues present, but they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. So, kind of like they’re on a seesaw — both on opposing ends, but balancing the structure of their relationship nonetheless.
Hoseok's View of The Relationship:
Eight of Wands (rev) | The Hanged Man (rev)
This is kind of weird because the reversed Eight of Wands implies that he has an awareness of no movement or progression, no stimulation, no energetic connection, but The Hanged Man in reverse also implies that he very specifically doesn’t find this to be stagnated in any way. It’s like, he’s aware of their connection, and he sees them moving forward independently, but still in sync somehow. Actually, it’s like the seesaw again. They move up and down at different times, but they are in fact moving together. There may also be some sort of subconscious, maybe conscious awareness that Kook isn’t necessarily someone that could push him forward, as in, Kook couldn’t provide him with the Eight of Wands, but he can be that person for Kook. Maybe not specifically with the energetic boost of the Eight of Wands, but the guidance and clarity that can come with the reversal of The Hanged Man.
If we go back to the aspect of the Seven of Cups, the dreamer who can see reality, it’s like he, when necessary, can use that to help Kook come back down from his own “dream,” which may, in fact, be more along the lines of a nightmare at the time, distorted thinking, his own anxiety or worries. I feel like we can see that as spectators where Kook could definitely rely on Hoseok in some instances, however, I really don’t think Kook would be Hoseok’s first choice to talk to when he is having some kind of personal trouble. Again, that could fall into the pride thing, the ego not wanting to, consciously, confide in someone younger or more “childish” than him, while on another level it’s about a very masculine person not wanting to show weakness so blatantly to someone he thinks is matching that masculine projection. Like I said before, that last bit seems very out of place, but it’s woven in there somehow.
Kook's View of The Relationship:
Page of Cups | 3 of Swords
One of the things I noticed about Kook in his and Jimin’s relationship reading is that he does hold a very positive perception of his connections overall, but especially with the other members. The same thing is happening here. As we’ve seen, there’s that very clear back and forth kind of vibe where they come together and move apart, but here, very deliberately, he is focused on that one aspect where they actually help each other, where they trade energy or influence back and forth in order to help each other balance out within themselves.
He’s focused on Hoseok’s Page of Cups from the previous portion of this reading. He’s focused on that level of connection where, when Hoseok is experiencing the 10 of Swords, Kook himself can provide him with that “activation” or reminder of his ability to pull away from the negative mentality, focus on the positive. So, here, the Page of Cups is going right back to how, when Kook is experiencing The Tower, Hoseok is able to activate within Kook that ability to rebuild what was lost, the ability to create a new foundation. However, this is literally the conscious level that this perception is resonating on.
So, much more the Hoseok, Kook is sensitive, probably due to his more balanced aspect between Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine, to how Hoseok actually does influence him. Along with that, rather than being specifically aware of the fact that Hoseok is activating something in him in relation to The Tower, in relation to his reality collapsing, he’s just seeing it as the Three of Swords, as a literal low point, a time in which he is just feeling sad or disconnected.
Current State of The Relationship: King of Wands
Similar to how it was with Jimin and Kook’s relationship reading, it would seem that Kook is a bit more submissive or malleable within this connection, as in he doesn’t really govern the pattern of it, Hoseok does. So, the current state of the relationship is literally governed by that Fire in Hoseok, but that slightly out of place projection of the Divine Masculine, Fire, somewhat connected to pride and the ego. They are leaning very much so into the levels in which they don’t activate each other but push each other, which puts them at opposite ends, not connected to each other.
A little weird, but I was getting sadness on Kook’s end centered around this issue of opposition. I keep getting that this kid is a “product of Venus,” and because of that, he just loves to love people, he loves to have very strong, deep emotional connections. So, where his core is resonating with the Divine Masculine, his spirit, his soul, is very much so in the realm of Divine Feminine, and he is ruled by that more than what people might assume. Honestly, that may be why Hoseok and Kook have such a strong connection through the spirit — on that level, there is no opposition, only balance, and centeredness between projections of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine, or the electric and magnetic charges.
And this is all well and good, but something in this really throws Kook off. I assume, just based on how he seems to work on different levels, I don’t think he’s really used to having a relationship where they are not together or matched up on every level, or nearly every level. With Hoseok and Kook, half of the levels are disconnected, and half of the connected levels are based on the opposition. I think for him, on a soul level, even though he understands that connection and balance, there’s just this unsettled feeling in it. Consciously speaking, I think there is awareness to a very slight disconnect, maybe in the realm of emotional expression specifically, but it’s not something that triggers severe discomfort or tension between them superficially.
Highest Potential: The Fool
This was interesting because, obviously, this is Kook’s card. This is his highest awareness that came through here where he and Hoseok are right next to each other, very much in the same space of connection and resonance. However, something in this felt just a little bit different, it’s not quite carrying the exact same energy it was before. Here there’s this big sense of release. I was literally getting this sensation as well as a visual of someone taking off a corset and taking in a deep breath.
It’s very specific and very direct with how I’m seeing it. Basically, it’s like there is a reliance on Kook, or Kook specifically feels responsibility or a need, on a higher level, on a soul level, to literally release Hoseok from some kind of binding. I was seeing this connect back to how misplaced or out of sorts all of that Fire and Divine Masculine energy, or the overload of it, seems to just really not fit Hoseok. I don’t know if it’s more of a personal perspective on it or not, but The Fool here is just this feeling of taking a binding off of Hoseok in order to loosen things up and allow him to breathe more.
