Gemini Season: May 20 - June 20

Astrological Focus:

I got an interesting image when I was first sitting with the season and feeling into it a bit. What I saw was a system of tree roots moving deeper and deeper underground, and then slowly starting to twist around each other until they were one massive braid of roots that stretched straight down from the base on the tree. Simultaneously, the branches of this tree started stretching out towards the sky in all directions, but they weren’t actually growing. The more the stretched, the straighter and thinner the branches got, seeming almost desperate to grab onto something outside of itself in order to get away from the painful or seemingly unnatural process that was taken place beneath the soil.

This visual quickly turned into hands, lots and lots of hands reaching up, down, and all-around in the darkness, grabbing onto each other. Some of them were calm and gentle, barely grasping onto another’s fingers, while others were digging their nails into the skin in order to catch a sense of stability. This put into mind a forced fall into the “tar pit” of the 8th House, a forced deep dive that would prompt a lot of people to want to reach out or literally tear themselves away from their own core due to the complexity, confusion, or even painful nature of the process. There was an emphasis on connections being made in this process, hinting at an idea that this stretching, grabbing, and holding wasn’t necessarily escapism or something that worked against the process, but for some may be the point of the process altogether.

This was further supported by the center cards there, the main influences for Gemini Season, which are Cosmic Flower, which I saw as reflecting the visual of the roots and branches, and Companionship, which directly reflects the aspect of the hands clinging to each other within a void. There’s this sort of twisted motion within all of these retrogrades coming up, especially Saturn and Mercury, where a lot of people will be prompted to root down in order to branch out. Visually speaking, this is already very confusing and I don’t expect it to be a walk in the park for anyone, but simply being aware of it and knowing that what is coming up and going around is connected to this can help to keep the mind a bit calmer within it all.

Around the main influences of the Cosmic Flower and Companionship, there are also supporting energies for navigating one’s own belief or perception, and being able to adapt within a changing environment. Again, this can wrap itself into the visual of the hands reaching out in the void, being connected to bodies that can’t see each other, but have to instead believe that there are others there, believe there is a way out, and believe that there is a point to all of it, while also actually navigating their own corner of this warped purgatory. 

There’s a lot of introspection that could come up, either bringing a lot of clarity or a lot of confusion depending on how it plays out in your chart. If you feel it’s necessary, I would recommend checking out the current transits in relation to your own chart, especially in relation to the retrogrades in Gemini Season as well as the eclipses.

Cosmic Flower (paired with Companionship)

“The frequency of the Cosmic Flower activates our remembrance of the place we call home, the core from which we pour our magnificence out into the world.”

Again, I recognize this as being directly related to the image of the roots and the branches, but very specifically the process of the roots growing and twisting together to form one braided structure below the tree’s base. There could be something to this regarding stabilizing the core, or locking something into place within the core in order to close off one chapter to start a new one.

Belief (paired with Decision)

“The frequency of Belief supports our sense of self-worth based on our gifts and talents, and a strong connection to Source.”

This could relate to an aspect of this overall process that could bring people to consciously navigate the inner workings of their own belief systems and perceptions of both the inner and outer world. Decision is very much about figuring a plan of attack, represented by an open chess game and an open doorway leading into darkness, or unknown territory. It requires patience and time that would allow you to step back and look at all of what is going on at every angle before running towards it or away from it.

Dynamic (paired with Adaptability)

“The frequency of Dynamic supports our ability to harmonize between layers of aspects of different origin and frequency. It helps us to put together a reality that is made up of many different elements, both familiar and completely new, with ease, grace, and great joy.”

Dynamic and Adaptability might as well be the exact same card within this context as they both lend to the potential part of this process that would require a lot of us to really move with the energies and circumstances that come from those energies, rather than trying to avoid them or conquer them in some way. Adaptability specifically makes me feel like things could be very weird, very offbeat throughout Gemini season, presenting situations and problems that could be unfamiliar, or just seem unfamiliar as they haven’t come up in a while. The first thing that comes to mind that we could all relate to is the now “unfamiliar” situation of getting back out into public spaces, socializing more frequently and within bigger groups without as many restrictions or fear now that people are getting vaccinated.
