Virgo Season 2021

INTRO

First and foremost, I want to point out how VIRGO this Virgo Season feels. Like seriously, I keep getting all of these images in my head regarding regulation, organization, and planning, and it all just feels so unabashedly Virgo. What I was seeing was this mashup that showed a certain kind of flow between Cancer Season, Leo Season, and now Virgo Season. Basically, I was seeing students, like high school students, in a chem lab doing one of those little experiments where they put one liquid in another liquid and some science occurs and suddenly there’s this mountain of foam just spilling out everywhere. Everyone stands around in shock like, “how the hell did all that foam come from this teeny tiny bit of liquid?”

I was seeing this production of foam, this overload of a chemical reaction being a sign that a lot of people really manifested something, alchemized something, and solidified it in a very physical way in Leo Season. Something came to fruition, some kind of opportunity popped up, some kind of resource was made available — whatever it may be, there’s STUFF there, it’s just going all over the floor right now. Virgo Season is going to really bring in a lot of energy and support for not cleaning up the foam, but more so getting it all off the floor, in buckets, organized, labeled, and eventually put to use in some way. What use could all this foam have though? I have no idea, I suppose that would be up to you.

The astrology is pretty interesting as well as right when the Sun goes into Virgo on the 22nd, around 6 PM EST, there is this lovely little Air Trine with the North Node at 6° of Gemini, Venus at 7° of Libra, and retrograde Saturn at 8° of Aquarius. This trine really puts a stamp on the beginning of the season and stimulates a lot of that mental energy, a lot towards communication around work, organizing, and regulating with Mars and Mercury being acutely conjunct in Virgo as well.

There’s a lot of push and pull going into the season, but it feels like the kind of push and pull that goes into spinning taffy by hand. There’s a lot of strain to it, the motion can become repetitive, but that’s the only way to get that soft, fluffy, sticky candy. There’s this aspect of being committed to the craft of it, having that passion to hand-pull your taffy rather than just throwing it into a machine — maybe that’s what the foam is used for. Turning liquid to foam, foam to taffy, taffy to profit or fulfillment, just this constant leveling up and odd but solid transitions from one form to another.

I think that could be a thing in Virgo Season as well. Things might not make sense superficially, it might not make sense of how you go about getting from one point to another, but you can’t question it. You just gotta go with it and see what you get, then work your way forward from there.

The numerology of this trine interested me as well, going from 6 to 7 and to 8 between the Air signs. It’s a steady progression, starting with the aspect of servitude in the number 6, relating to Virgo/6th House, as well as stabilizing connections such as shown in The Lovers, the 6th card in the major arcana. For me, 6 was registering as this availability as a foundation, something more attributed to Virgo’s motherly nature, just kind of being there as a foundation, as a supplier, as an organizer. Oddly, with this I got the image of children in an elementary school art class, all dressed up in their paint shirts as the teacher walks around with this big tub that is filled with Elmer’s Glue, little watercolor paint sets, crayons, colored pencils, and different colored paper. In that situation, in that image, supplies, space, and time are being provided for some kind of creation, and similar to the high school chem lab image, it’s open to experimentation. Who knows what little kids will come up with when you give them a bunch of random supplies and tell them to make something.

The number 7, which connects to Libra/7th House and The Chariot in Tarot, and for some reason always makes me think of the 8 of Wands specifically, feels very much so like that process of creation, fully pursuing a vision. This is especially on point when you consider this point in the trine is Venus in Libra. Not only is Venus in Libra an awesome source of creative expression, but it can also be a place of beautifying, clarifying, fine-tuning. That coinciding with Virgo’s push to organize, regulate, and plan can really take people somewhere.

If you think of it as the teenagers in the chem lab planning the experiment, then cleaning and organizing the foam into buckets, then those buckets becoming supplies for the younger kids’ art projects… I don’t know, it all just kind of fits in my head and it comes down to this move towards giving something to your inner child, doing something, or making something that brings about that level of fulfillment. The excitement of starting something new, of playing around, experimenting, creating, all within the structures and foundations of this regulated Virgo energy… it just feels like being kids in a classroom, allowed to run wild for a little bit with whatever is available at the time.

The number 8, connecting to Scorpio/8th House, as well as the Strength card in Tarot, feels like a fully bloomed creation. Not necessarily the final product, not necessarily the final piece of art that will be framed and entered into the art show, but the fully realized vision. As I said, some things could simply not make a lot of sense through Virgo Season when it comes to how one thing moves into another, one thing becomes another, but that number 8 feels like the moment where things click and you’re like, “Oh! So, THAT’S what I’ve been doing this whole time.”

Again, I’m getting all kinds of images with this. For this process, visualized as a singular action, it’s like doing that thing where you want to draw something, can’t think of anything, so you just scribble all over the page and then try to find an image within those scribbles — hidden faces, a landscape, or just some kind of interesting mosaic that you can color in. The pencil and sketchpad would be 6, that available foundation, the supplies. It doesn’t matter if a “teacher” passed them out to you or if you had to get up, got to the store, and get it yourself, they are still supplies that are available to you to work with. The number 7 is that point of somewhat chaotic creation where you are scribbling all over, the creation of the scribble, the initiation of it. Then, the act of following through, looking for the image within the scribble, organizing the lines and shapes in your head, that’s all Virgo. Then, finally, the point where you see the hidden picture, you finally have that solidified vision is number 8. The process of bringing that vision to life, beautifying and fine-tuning those scribbles is Venus in Libra.

On another note, this does line up as well with the process between Cancer Season, Leo Season, and now Virgo Season. I mentioned it in the Cancer and Leo Season readings that Cancer Season was big up on preparing and laying things out for Leo Season where a lot of things were initiated and activated, especially with the peak of Lion’s Gate lining up with the New Moon in Leo on the 8th of August. Virgo Season, again, is about taking whatever it is that came about in Leo Season and giving it form, finding its form, committing to creating with what you have. Don’t be blind to what you have and what is available to you this season just because it’s not exactly what you wanted or envisioned for yourself. Very important to keep that in mind.

Now, the Aquarius Full Moon, which is an important one as it is one of two Aqua Full Moons we get this year, the previous one being on the 23rd of July. The Air Trine is just slightly more exact during the Full Moon, with both Venus and the North Node sitting at 7°, so depending on how you want to work with or just acknowledge this energy, it’s good to keep that in mind.

I would also suggest looking at those points, maybe up to two or three degrees difference, in your chart. 6° of Gemini, 7° of Libra, and 8° of Aquarius.

vsexternalguidance.png

As for the cards, I want to start with the guided messages as they really solidify and affirm this vibe I was getting with Virgo Season. On the far left, the messages from external guidance, which offer up suggestions or advice for dealing with the more superficial and conscious aspects of life come together with the Porcupine Spirit (“Time for beginner mind.”), the Owl Spirit (“You see clearly now.”), and the Grasshopper Spirit (“Take a leap of faith.”).

I really like this because it still gives me that vibe of kids in a classroom left to play or experiment within the structures of the classroom itself, or within the structures of the assignment. The message of the Porcupine feels like that prompt to be experimental, to be a bit more free and open to possibilities, almost like it is speaking directly to the inner child, encouraging them to take over and have a bit of fun. Then, the Owl swoops in and reminds you very consciously that you are not going into anything blind or empty-handed. You are prepped, you’re supplied, you’re ready to go, you have everything you need, therefore you should have enough there to comfort you and assure you that you can let go. Again, there is fun and experimentation, but it is inside a structure. Trust that structure.

Lastly, the Grasshopper is the real kicker there, really being like, okay, we talked you up enough, now GO! While finding the balance between the structure and the play, you could definitely find some difficulty in really letting go. In my mind, it’s like someone clinging to the edge of a swimming pool, afraid that if they let go they’ll drown or lose their way back. You won’t. You’re in the shallow end, you’ll have time and space to get your footing, and you’re going to work up the courage to swim out to the deep end where you can do all kinds of flips and whirly-dos or whatever seems fun. You just have to let go and trust that structure around you.

The inner guidance is interesting as, in spite of all four cards coming out together, they feel split down the middle. The first set is the New Moon in Capricorn (“Your hard work is paying off.”) and Full Moon in Aries (“A fiery climax approaches!”). The second set includes New Moon in Aquarius (“Bring love into the situation.”) and New Moon (“A new start is coming!”). The Full Moon in Aries suggests a completion to the hard work of the New Moon in Capricorn, while New Moon brings about a new beginning following the love of Aquarius New Moon. I find it interesting because of the natural progression between Capricorn and Aquarius. All of the hard work, the life-long foundations of Capricorn give way to the more experimental, explorative, and wide-reaching Aquarius.

More than anything, I was very focused on “Bring love into the situation,” as I felt it more as passion, joy, excitement for creation, and excitement for legacy. Aquarius and the 11th House, in terms of personal progression, always holds a strong sense of legacy, it defines more of what you will be remembered for, what you leave the world, what you contribute. A lot of the time it’s the most “out there,” “whacky,” and innovative things that people are remembered for, and that really falls in line with the kids in a classroom. Like… let’s be real. Who’s the most memorable? The teacher’s pet who follows all the rules, or the spitfire class clown that always has the most bizarre shit to say? The one who blends in with the crowd and follows the designated leader, or the one who steps out of line, forges a new path, and becomes a leader themselves? Something to think about.

A lot of what was brought into play in Leo Season, and a lot of what will come out in full form through Virgo Season is stuff that holds legacy, it holds time, it’s stuff that is going to last and should be created with the intention to last. Again, that is where that balance comes from. You want to be free, wild, just let all that creativity come through, but aim it in the right direction, manage that time, keep yourself committed to the work at hand. In that sense, you have to be the teacher that assigns the project, and the kid that takes that project to Jupiter and just goes crazy with it.

soultime.png

Now, for the main cards and such. In the center there, the main energy coming through for the collective through Virgo Season is Soul Time, which prompts you to “allow the possibility of a new reality to emerge, one that embraces the concept that, while the corporeal body is mortal, the soul is timeless, limitless, and infinite.” This quite literally feels like that push and pull between structure and freedom, the push and pull of the body and soul itself. With that, Escape (Mars in Pisces) and Friendship (Moon in Cancer) came out to show how this energy will anchor in for a lot of people.

I like the combination of Escape and Friendship as it literally feels like just escaping with friends, making some kind of grand exodus from rigid ideas of how things should be done, mass migration from a well-beaten road to many new, untouched, unexplored pathways. This feels very spiritual, very much like a collective experience in the sense that we’re all going to do it together, but separately if that makes sense. On a soul level, we’re together with the intention to break away and define ourselves as individuals in whatever way we see fit.

On the left, the main energy presented is Remembrance which was anchored in by Health (Sun in Virgo), Fortune (Sun in Leo), and Companionship (Moon in Libra). This one seemed the most straightforward as it brings about the remembrance of Health or the resources that you supply yourself from the inside out, which would include everything from your energy, mentality, attention, ideas, and physical strength. With that comes the remembrance of the recognition of Fortune, the more externalized wealth or resources available to you, especially what comes to you through your friends or family, whether that be through finances or emotional support and encouragement.

I think for a lot of people it will become very clear what it is that you have around you, what supplies you have that may have gone unnoticed or unappreciated before. For some people, I can see a situation arising where you get into a tight spot or find difficulty in moving ahead with something and have no choice but to learn about your resources, learn about the support your people have for you, learn about what you can give yourself from within. Very interesting. This could be where some of that strain and push/pull come from.

emergenceempow.png

The last set there holds Emergence and Empowerment, two cards that follow each other in this deck, number 25 and 26, which were then anchored in by Organization (Mercury in Capricorn) and Secrets (Venus in Scorpio). This is a pretty awesome set because it really goes back into that idea of the kids in the classroom, the structure, the experimentation, and the unusual or mysterious manner in which one thing, or one situation, becomes another.

Emergence is all about coming into your own, sprouting up, and it is associated with childlike wonder and acceptance as you allow reality to build up and play out around you. Stemming from that, Empowerment, very much like the structuring of Virgo, brings about this more solidified state of being. If Emergence is the sprout, then Empowerment is the process that brings that sprout into full bloom. There’s this kind of self-understanding and self-actualizing that comes through Emergence and really shines in Empowerment.

Anchoring that, there is Organization (Mercury in Capricorn) which, of course, refers to organized action, planning, and dedicated work. The card itself features nurtured and attended to farmland, and it is made clear that while the life of the farmer may seem simple from the outside, a lot of time, energy, knowledge, skill, and practice goes into cultivating and maintaining both the land and the animals. The other anchor, Secrets (Venus in Scorpio), is really interesting as it came out overtop of Organization. It’s like it’s keeping the methods, tools, and routine of the farmer secret. This brought to mind the idea of the liquid becoming foam, the foam becoming art supplies, and those supplies becoming a scribbled mess, which ends up a masterpiece by the end of it. It doesn’t make sense, but it works, it happens, it’s there, and that’s all you need to know.

Innovation is a big key here. Going back to the students again, there’s a matter of making sure that the teacher (you) allows the student (also you) to break away from the assignment. It’s hard to explain it since it’s coming through as a layered concept, but obviously, in Chemistry class you’re meant to be making a specific thing, not some big mass of foam that goes all over the floor, right? So, whoever made the foam must have messed up, right? Made big mistakes, no good, not at all, failing grade, right? NO! It’s not a mistake, it’s not a failure, it’s not messed up, it’s just something different.

The little kids in art class are all assigned to draw a house with a tree and a sun in the corner, then one kid scribbles all over the paper and creates some crazy abstract situation that ends up getting a blue ribbon in the art show. They went off course, broke away, deviated from something accidentally and on purpose. It can be very easy in those moments to automatically see yourself as a failure, but when you are both the student and the teacher in the scenario, it is completely under your control to give yourself a gold star, to put yourself up in the art show, to claim discovery and innovation over failure and mistakes.

Again, there will be push and pull, there will be strain, there will be a lot of work, but it’s so clearly bringing something to life. Things are not just building up, they are very much THERE. There’s a level of commitment there, in a sense committing to pulling that taffy before it hardens or dries out, working it into exactly what you want it to be, exactly the right texture, with the right flavors, colors, and bite that YOU want, that YOU find most fulfilling.

It’s such an awesome time, I’m really excited to see how Virgo Season goes for everyone.

Messages For Fire Signs

7 of Swords + Page of Wands

This feels like a call for careful and perhaps strict independence. The person in the image is sneaking off with all these swords, all these ideas, plans, blueprints, and so on. He’s sneaking away with them only to become the Page of Wands, charged up, ready to go, solo with a clear outlook. The matter of Secrets over Organization comes to mind with this. Don’t let people in on your methods or plans right now. Don’t invite judgment or criticism. Be wild with it, be carefree, really channel that Fire Child spirit and claim that independent stride.

Message For Earth Signs

King of Cups + The Hierophant

Oof, you might have to try extra hard to break out of that Earthy level of control. It’s kind of funny how this plays out in my head as I’m seeing the King of Cups as The Hierophant, just clenching his jaw and gripping the hell out of the arms of his chair as he allows that water to come in, allows his safe, sturdy, and well-worn foundation below to loosen up a bit. It’s a very, “oh fuck…” kind of vibe, but trust me, if you roll with the waves you’re not going to get sucked under, you’re not going to lose control, and you’re not going to ruin your hair.

Messages For Air Signs

The Empress + The High Priestess

Well, hello there, farmer! This is such an interesting set as it seems to put you in a position where you could find it quite easy to understand the “Secrets” of Organization, understand the tricks and tools, crack the code before a lot of other people do. There’s a big boost from that Air Trine on the first day of Virgo Season, as well as big boost from Venus in Libra specifically. The Empress really calls for that “beautifying, clarifying, fine-tuning” that I mentioned earlier, but The High Priestess gives you insight, gives you that intuitive edge on how to do it, how to bring your vision to life. Communication is key — and that means speaking AND listening.

Messages For Water Signs

7 of Wands + Knight of Swords (rev.)

Beware, there be buttheads afoot! I feel like this goes into things that have been in the making for the last few months, maybe even that last year for some of you. You’ve been building, you’ve been working on something, you’ve already got a vision and a plan, and at the moment, that could piss some people off. The 7 of Wands has to fight to maintain their footing, maintain their position as people who are jealous or in need of that very power or position try to steal it away. Don’t let them do it. Anyone that comes along with some shit to say, some smack to talk, just know they are the fallen Knight of Swords, not you. They are lost, not you. Don’t let them make you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. You do, you always have, you always will. Period.
